On the design side, the phone comes with a glossy plastic, which looks appealing by the way. Up front, the phone comes with a 6.22-inch display, which features a notch on the top. talking about the Lava R5 display, it features HD+ resolution. So it is not really that sharp when compared to its competitors. Nonetheless, the display looks bright enough to use even on broad daylight. The phone also comes with an ambient light sensor and in our Lava R5 review, we didn’t have any hassles on adjusting the brightness. On the camera front, Lava R5 features a dual camera on the back and comes with a single shooter on the front. Talking about the Lava R5 front camera, a 16MP selfie shooter rests on the notch. And when it comes with the Lava R5 rear camera, the camera duo on the device is a combination of 13MP and 5MP sensors. I was greatly impressed with the camera on this device. When I performed Lava R5 vs Redmi Note 5 AI camera comparison, I found resulting images to be better on the Lava R5. And you can easily see on the Lava R5 camera review portion of the video. Performance is not the biggest suit of Lava phones. And it’s no different on the Lava R5. The phone comes with MediaTek Helio P22 chipset with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of storage. When we performed the Lava R5 gaming test, we found it to perform decently when it comes to lighter apps and games. But on performing the Lava R5 gaming review with graphics-intensive games, it runs with few lags and stutters. On our Lava R5 PUBG test, the phone ran on medium setting with few lags and stutters. And talking about the Lava R5 battery, a 3260mAh is equipped on the device. When we do the Lava R5 unboxing, we found a 10watt charger on the box. The stock charger takes around 1.5 hours to get the device fully charged. With the smaller battery on the board, I was quite worried about the Lava R5 battery life but to my pleasant surprise, the phone easily backed me for one complete day.
